It’s as incredible as it is ironic.
Lambda Chi Alpha is the oldest continuously operating fraternity at the University of New Hampshire, having initiated nearly 2,000 Brothers since 1918.
Despite such an awesome legacy, it’s hard to believe that six decades have passed without a place to truly call our own—a place to call home.
If we do our part, 10 Madbury can be a bridge between generations and a point of pride throughout our second century at UNH.
With your help, the Returning Home Campaign will raise $2M by 2028, providing a home for those who need it just as much as we did.
Your Impact in Action
Our return could not be more well-timed. In the last few years, Pike, ATO, and Sigma Beta each completed capital projects—and each recruited more men than Lambda Chi.
Given the lack of housing in Durham and strict zoning regulations, we’ll unlikely see such an opportunity again.
To prepare for this historic transition, the Alpha-Xi Zeta House Corporation—a registered New Hampshire 501(c)(7) organization—was created to own and manage our home for the benefit of our young Brothers.
To make this return a reality, $690,000 is due in cash upon closing on December 1, 2025. The balance owed will be financed with the current owner through 2032.
Since August, 22 Brothers have pledged $800,000—nearly 40% of our goal—to be given over the next five years.

All donors who give or pledge before November 15 will be recognized in our new home at 10 Madbury.

Alpha-Xi Zeta House Corporation, Inc. has been formed as a 501(c)7 organization under New Hampshire law for the purpose of securing and maintaining permanent housing for the long-term benefit of the chapter. The following Alumni Brothers serve on its Board of Directors.

We encourage you to consider a gift or multi-year pledge at one of our donor recognition levels outlined below.

There are two entities to which a donor may give in support of the Returning Home Campaign for Alpha-Xi Zeta:
1. Alpha-Xi Zeta House Corporation is a 501(c)(7) organization, and contributions received are not tax-deductible.
2. Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions received are tax-deductible.
Funding for fraternity houses can come from both (c)(3) and (c)(7) organizations, based on the percentage of property deemed to be educational through independent legal opinion.
The Steering Committee will monitor giving throughout the campaign, ensuring funds raised to the Educational Foundation do not exceed this percentage.
Donations to the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation will be maintained within a dedicated fund for Alpha-Xi Zeta.
Funds raised beyond those required will support scholarships or establish a maintenance and reserve fund.
All funds given to either entity will be used to purchase and, if necessary, renovate our home at 10 Madbury.

Donor Recognition
Giving Levels
Giving levels were established to provide recognition commensurate with your generosity.
Consider a donation or multi-year pledge at the following levels:
Visionary: $250,000+ // $50,000 annually
Champions: $100,000—$249,999 // $25,000+ annually
Leaders: $50,000—$99,999 // $10,000+ annually
Platinum: $25,000—$49,999 // $5,000+ annually
Gold: $10,000—$24,999 // $2,000+ annually
Green: $5,000—$9,999 // $1,000+ annually
Purple: $1,000—$4,999 // $250+ annually
Young Alumnus: $500+ (Grad Year 2017+)
Donors who give $5,000 or more will be recognized with engraved bricks on the sidewalk leading up to 10 Madbury Road.
Class Recognition
The three (3) initiation classes with the most individual donors will receive naming rights for rooms according to their standing amongst all classes.
To be eligible for donor recognition, donations or multi-year pledges must be received by the Educational Foundation and the House Corporation on or before November 15, 2025.
Unless otherwise preferred, all campaign donors at the giving levels will be recognized in digital and print publications.
Additional recognition opportunities may be made available after the Campaign has concluded.
Donors wishing to remain anonymous must indicate their wishes at the time of donation or within their campaign pledge form.
